Human differs from the rest of the living world: in addition to biological and physiological needs and instincts, he has found and lives in the intellectual sphere. In this article, we’ll be distinguishing between two functional entities: the first will be called “animal”, and the second – “spiritual” (human). They are interconnected. The balance between the spiritual and animal in people largely determines the life and development of society. A shift towards the animal leads to inhibition of the activity and societal stagnation. Such inhibition exists wherever there is too much of something (food, population, leisure options, various goods and benefits in the society, etc). The same inhibition is experimentally shown in animals, birds, fish, and insects and is called “the law of oversupply”. Apparently this law is also applicable to the human society. Such an approach, not on a social, but on a deeper biological level, contributes to a more complete understanding of the processes occurring today in the human world. Currently, there is (in the more successful part of the society) an overabundance of goods and benefits. And accordingly, there are signs of slowing down of the development, aggravation of contradictions and a systemic crisis of the whole society. Humanity is facing a threat of a planetary catastrophe. It’s time to stop.
